Who we serve
InMotion provides free matrimonial, family and immigration legal services to low-income women throughout New York City. The vast majority of our clients are survivors of domestic violence–and they are poor.

The need is overwhelming
Hard to believe that in a city of 8.3 million people–with 80,000 attorneys–there are fewer than 200 lawyers at legal sevices agencies handling family law cases. Abused women have to wait many months, even years, to get free legal help. Lawyers are guaranteed for individuals facing criminal charges; not so for mothers in Family and Supreme Courts, where most family law issues are resolved.

inMotion’s free legal services make a difference
Last year, over 2,700 volunteers shared their expertise and time, providing free legal services to 6,500 women and children.
