Part-time opportunities during the school year
We host interns who are able to work 10 or more hours per week at our Manhattan and Bronx offices. Although inMotion does not offer paid internships, students may apply work-study, public interest law fellowship or clinical credit through their law schools to their internship.

InMotion involves law students in virtually all aspects of our work
Students work under the direct supervision of the experienced public interest lawyers on our staff.
- Client contact—Students assist our staff in conducting phone and in-person intake interviews. Often, a law student is the first sympathetic person to speak with a woman desperate for assistance.
|
| |
- Drafting legal documents—Women are often unable to obtain attorney representation in time to make timely responses in their court cases. Our interns draft both responsive pleadings that save clients from default judgments and important supporting affidavits, memoranda and discovery documents for other legal actions.
|
| |
- Community outreach—Students help our staff organize and present legal information to staff and clients of community-based organizations. You may also staff a Saturday walk-in clinic in the Bronx.
|
| |
- Substantive research and writing—We turn to law students to assist in updating our extensive training manuals and to draft memoranda of law to support the advice we give pro bono attorneys representing our clients.

Bilingual students are especially helpful with interpreting during client interviews and case preparation meetings. Spanish-fluency is particularly valuable, as more than 50% of our clients are Latina.
