Building a caring community of support
InMotion’s thousands of individual volunteers rebuild and transform lives—one woman at a time, one family at a time.

Get involved
Whatever your skill set may be, inMotion can find a way to match your talents with our clients’ needs.

Attorneys
Volunteer lawyers gain professionally and personally when they represent clients in matrimonial, family or immigration law cases that are both compelling and winnable. For attorneys with experience in these practice areas, mentoring and training opportunities are also available.

Legal assistants
Legal assistants serve our clients by participating as members of legal teams working on cases. Working under the supervision of admitted attorneys, they also assist women in clinic settings.

Law students
Through internships during the school year or summer, law students work in our offices, alongside our staff, conducting intake and drafting legal documents that enable women without lawyers to protect their rights in court. Students working at law firms can participate in our Summer Associate Program.

Social work students and professionals
Our social work program recruits students in graduate programs to assist women with safety, financial and mental health needs. Practicing social workers often work with clients facing more complex and long-term issues.

Other graduate students
As part of our ongoing program evaluation efforts, we recruit students in social or behavioral science programs to help us better understand the impact of our services on the lives of the women and families we serve.

Undergraduate and technical school students
Student interns work with us throughout the school year and during the summer on a variety of fundraising, special events-related and general administrative projects.

Interpreters and translators
A large and growing number of women who seek legal help from inMotion are not fluent in English. Interpreters are needed to help conduct interviews and meetings. Some clients have legal and related documents essential to their cases that require translation and transcription into English.

Other professionals
The needs of inMotion’s clients, as well as our internal infrastructure needs can accommodate professionals with expertise in many areas outside of the law. For example, individuals with strong computer and IT skills are needed to help with database and document management projects. Graphic designers and others with a background in the arts can assist with our annual photography auction.
