About our work and why it matters
Women facing violence at home or threats to their children's safety have immediate, urgent legal needs.
They deserve competent representation regardless of their ability to pay. InMotion is one of the few places women in New York City can turn to find a free lawyer.
inMotion's clients are poor women, most are domestic violence victims, many are immigrants.
All desperately need a lawyer in order to reclaim their lives from abuse and to protect their children from harm. Learn more .
inMotion connects women in family crisis with caring volunteer lawyers.
Last year inMotion's staff attorneys and volunteer lawyers fought hard to win economic security and freedom from abuse for 6,500 of our or City's most vulnerable women and children. Learn more .
inMotion has built a strong community of generous donors and volunteers.
With a modest budget and small staff, inMotion mobilizes support from thousands of volunteers — lawyers, legal assistants, students and other professionals. Learn more .
Harnessing the power of volunteers, last year inMotion's small legal staff of 15 delivered more than 110,000 hours of free legal services to women in need—the equivalent of 55 full-time legal professionals.
