InMotion holds free walk-in legal clinics in the Bronx and Queens. If you have questions about divorce, child or spousal support, domestic violence, orders of protection or child custody and visitation—or if you are a victim of domestic violence with immigration questions—you can visit one of our walk-in clinics for free information and legal advice.

All inMotion walk-in clinics are bilingual and are run by Spanish and English-speaking legal staff and volunteers.

Bronx clinic
Women living in the Bronx are invited to come to our Bronx office for free legal information and advice one day each month. Our Bronx walk-in clinic is usually held on the second Saturday of each month, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. Queens clinic

What to expect

 When you arrive at a clinic, you will be greeted by a bilingual staff member or volunteer and be asked to sign-in.

Intake interview
You will first meet with a bilingual staff member or volunteer who will ask you detailed questions about yourself, your family and your situation (called intake). This intake interview will take about 30 minutes. All personal information shared with inMotion is confidential.

It is important that you provide us with a safe contact telephone number or way to reach you. Our legal staff will not call you or leave a voice message unless you have said it is safe to do so.

Help us help you

Information that we will need to help you:
  • Social Security numbers, dates of birth and other identifying information—for yourself, your children, your spouse and/or the father of your children
  • Addressesfor yourself, your children, your spouse and/or the father of your children
  • Employment information—for yourself and your spouse and/or the father of your children
  • Dates and descriptions of any domestic violence you have experienced, including police reports
  • Details about your court case(s), including any court papers you have filed or served, and any court orders you have received. Have your legal papers in front of you when you call.
  • Proof of income—for yourself from your most recent pay stub or your budget letter if you are on public assistance

Please bring copies of:
  • All court documents, including any court papers you have filed or served, and any court orders you have received
  • Your most recent pay stub or your budget letter if you are on public assistance
  • Police reports about domestic violence
  • If immigration status is part of your case, any documents you have received from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
