Our summer trainings are open to attorneys and summer associates working at Corporate Partner firms participating in inMotion’s Summer Associate Program.

This training is only open to attorneys and summer associates from Corporate Partner firms participating in the 2013 Summer Associate Program, who are assigned order of protection matters.

Attorneys and summer associates will be trained to represent inMotion-referred clients in order of protection matters in Family Court. Procedural and substantive aspects will be discussed in detail, as well as tips on how to represent and advise victims of domestic violence. Training manuals and sample documents will be provided.
Summer associates will work under the supervision of admitted attorneys from their firms. If cases are not resolved by the end of the summer, supervising attorneys will handle cases until completion. Assigned pro bono cases will require one or more court appearances.
Only attorneys and summer associates from firms participating in inMotion's 2013 Summer Associate Program who have been assigned child and/or spousal support matters need to register for this training. Please obtain the training manual and case file from your firm's inMotion liaison in advance of the training date.

Attorneys and summer associates will be trained to represent immigrant women who are domestic violence victims and eligible for Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) protections in immigration proceedings. Procedural and substantive aspects will be discussed in detail.
Summer associates will work under the supervision of admitted attorneys from their firms. If cases are not resolved by the end of the summer, supervising attorneys will handle cases until completion. Assigned pro bono cases may require representing clients at non-adversarial interviews before immigration services.

Attorneys and summer associates will be trained to represent inMotion-referred clients in obtaining U Nonimmigrant ("U visa") status in the United States. U Nonimmigrant status is offered to a victim of certain crimes, like domestic violence and rape, who cooperates in the investigation or prosecution of her attacker. A grant of U Nonimmigrant status allows an immigrant and her derivative family members to work and live lawfully in the United States, and creates a pathway to their being able to obtain lawful permanent resident status. It also allows a derivative family member residing abroad to enter the United States lawfully to be reunited with the crime victim.
Summer associates will work under the supervision of admitted attorneys from their firms. If cases are not resolved by the end of the summer, supervising attorneys will handle cases until completion.
