The Transitional Shelter is dedicated to providing shelter to homeless, physically disabled, single adults who are medically stable but need the services of a home care attendant. Center Against Domestic Violence operates three shelters in New York City. The shelters house, feed and provide support services designed to meet the needs of domestic violence survivors and their children in residence. Learn more.
On-site support services include counseling and support groups, child care, day care and after school programs, financial counseling and advocacy, medical services, legal assistance, housing search assistance, and vocational and educational guidance and training. | HELP USA runs two facilities for women and their children who are fleeing domestic violence. Services include case management, domestic violence and substance abuse counseling, housing assistance, transitional housing, medical services, early education programs for children (infants to six-year-olds), and after school and adult education programs. New York Asian Women’s Center (NYAWC) provides emergency shelter for Asian women experiencing domestic violence. NYAWC services include a multi-lingual hotline, counseling and crisis intervention, advocacy and translation, support groups, referrals, child-parent services and community outreach. Safe Homes Project provides shelter and non-shelter services for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Single, working, undocumented, lesbian and transgender women are eligible for shelter services. Learn more.
Safe Homes Project services also include individual counseling, safety planning, support groups, advocacy and referrals for legal, criminal justice and other needs. All services are free and offered in English and Spanish.

Sanctuary For Families maintains safe houses and home-like shelters throughout the New York City area, offering refuge to women and children every night. Families receive private rooms and basic amenities for up to 90 days.
Sanctuary's Sarah Burke House is the first and largest transitional residence for battered women in New York City, providing apartments and support services to families after they have exhausted their maximum stay in crisis shelters. The building offers 46 apartments and has a 56-family capacity. Learn more.
